One Fundraiser for the year
Does your unit seem to always be fundraising? Candy bars, car washes, garage sales and more take away from the reason youth get involved in Scouting-program! Northern Star Council can show you how to do ONE fundraiser per year and raise all the funds your unit will need for a fantastic program. Your unit can focus its efforts over 4 weeks (or less), to make all the money they need so they can enjoy the rest of the year having FUN in Scouting programs for FREE.
Northern Star Council and Trails End provides everything you need for a successful sale
Each unit receives free:
• Kick off kit, with prizes and samples
• Sales materials
• Training for new and experienced Unit chairs
• Product and Prize ordering systems
• Bonus Prizes
• Product returns with no restocking fee
• Great customer service from the Scout office!
Get product before the sale and have NO RISK
The popcorn sale allows your unit to have popcorn “in-hand” for easier sales. A one stop shop where the customer receives their product and you collect the payment. No more trying to deliver product after the sale in bad weather or making sure the customer is home. As a Northern Star Council Unit you can work with the Council Popcorn team to order what your unit needs and return any unsold product AT NO COST to your unit. Payment for any product is not due until after the sale is over and all the money has been collected.
Still not convinced? Partner with your current fundraiser for additional revenue
Popcorn is the perfect compliment to your existing fundraiser because it offers a choice of products that help support Scouting. For customers not interested in a holiday wreath or candy, perhaps they would be interested in popcorn or sending popcorn to our local Military personnel. With every sale, unit revenues increase and Northern Star Council can continue to organize quality Scouting programs.
What if a nearby unit already sells popcorn?
That’s ok! Studies show that 70% of people are not asked to buy Scout popcorn, so there are a lot of people out there waiting to be asked. Some tips for multiple units in the same area
• Concentrate on a friends and family sale
• If another local Pack, Troop or Crew sells, talk to them about where they sell and sell in parts of the area that are not covered by the current unit.
• Utilize online sales for older Scouts.
• Organize storefront sales
• Do a “Blitz” day where the Scouts go door to door for 3 hours and celebrate the sale
Scout Growth
The sale is not simply about raising money. It is ALSO about goal-setting, building self-confidence, learning to “earn his own way” and to grow as a young adult through speaking to others, learning self-reliance and salesmanship. Selling popcorn can also help your Scouts earn achievements.
