Popcorn Training

In response to volunteer suggestions, we are excited to offer NEW ways of being trained. To say thank you to veteran chairs and help inform new ones, we are holding two SUPER SATURDAY TRAININGS in August and offering a few make up trainings the rest of the month for those units who cannot make a SUPER SATURDAY TRAINING.  Veteran chairs can get the information they need in a quicker setting, and new chairs can have more time to ask questions and learn about the program. See the next page for training information. 

Units need to attend popcorn training to receive the 3% training commission, even if they attended in the fall 2010, or spring 2011. Due to big changes, we need every unit to participate in an August training and to receive the 3% extra commission.  

If the popcorn chair cannot attend, another adult can attend to fulfill their unit’s training needs. The district popcorn chairs all agree this is the best way to ensure each unit has the most accurate and up-to-date information for a great sale this fall. By attending, you will learn proven methods to increase your unit’s popcorn sale; including how to put on a great kickoff and information about the upcoming sale. 

Your unit’s popcorn sales kit and sales guide will be available at the training locations. The district popcorn chairs and Northern Star Council are committed to helping each unit and each youth be successful in this year’s fall popcorn sale. Download the Crunch Quest map at www.buyscoutpopcorn.com to start your Crunch Quest this summer. Complete all of the items on the quest and earn a free Zyclone for your unit. Super Saturday Trainings

Super Saturday is designed to inform unit popcorn chairs about the upcoming sale and thank their family and them for their hard work. All unit chairs that attend receive a $10 gas card courtesy of Trails End! (1 gas card per unit)

9:00-10:00 a.m. - Registration
9:45 a.m. - Kids and Family meet at activity area
10:00-10:45 a.m. - 2011 Popcorn Sale Overview
11:00-11:45 - New Popcorn Chair Training

11:00-11:25 - Unit Budgeting/Ideal Year of Scouting   
11:30-11:55 - How to utilize online sales
11:30-11:55 - Using the Trail-End Web ordering system
12:00 - Kids and Family Activities end

Northern Star Council and Trails End would like to invite members of your family to enjoy an activity as a thank you while you attend training. Choose from the following:

Saturday August 13

2 Admissions from 9:30a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Brunswick Zone. (Limit 2 per Unit chair, $7 each additional)

Saturday August 20
Mall of America, Nickelodeon Universe Great Hall
Bloomington, MN
Choose a movie, popcorn and soda at the Theaters at Mall of America (movie is Night at the Museum) or go through the new Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium. (Limit 2 per unit chair, $7 each additional)
 
Chairs that attend a Super Saturday Training will receive:
• $10 Gas Card courtesy of Trails End (exclusive to the Sat, trainings)
• 3% Commission increase to 35% base commission
• The new $600 prize, a Zyclone, for their unit (with completed Quest form)
• Product Samples, Sales Kits and Sales Sheets
• Chances to win one of the following: $250 in Commission increase; Wild, Vikings, Swarm, Sea Life Tickets and more!
